Restoration — healing, totems and timely disruption
Arena optionArena starting point
Restoration relies on Earth Shield, careful casts and situational totems. Earth Shield heals when triggered; it is not a damage-absorption shield. Toughness and Mana Tide variants make different mobility and sustain tradeoffs, so follow a complete tree for the version you choose.
Talent Priorities
These are the key talent choices behind the build. The complete level-70 allocations are listed below. Open the TBC talent guide ↗
Restoration
A reactive heal with charges; refresh it on the player you expect to take pressure.
Makes the next eligible Nature spell instant for an emergency response.
Reduces healing pushback; it does not make you immune to interrupts.
Enhancement
Reduces Ghost Wolf cast time for mobility.
Improves relevant defensive totems and reduces Grounding Totem cooldown.

Stat Priority
Primary Stats
- Resilience and stamina: survive the enemy setup before optimizing throughput.
- Healing power and mana resources: judge upgrades against your match length and healing needs.
Secondary Stats
- Spirit, MP5 and intellect have different value by class, talents and available drinking windows.
- Haste is useful only if the resulting gear still lets you survive and sustain.
Gear Priority
Weapons
- Compare weapons for your active role and the season available on your realm.
Armor
- Build a coherent PvP set before trading away survival for a single PvE upgrade.
- Honor and arena purchases should solve your largest weakness: survival, reliable control or pressure.
Accessories
- Keep the appropriate PvP crowd-control trinket available.
- Choose the second trinket for your matchup and set; no universal resilience threshold makes every PvE item safe.
Consumables
Arena
- Prepare permitted class-created resources, reagents and bandages before queueing.
- Use arena-eligible water for drinking; create a safe out-of-combat window.
- Normal potions and flasks are not part of a rated arena loadout. Keep battleground consumable plans separate.
Playstyle Guide
Decisions
- Place totems where they protect your team without giving opponents effortless attacks on them.
- Use Grounding for a threatening spell and Earth Shock for an interrupt; TBC has no Wind Shear.
- Purge when healing is stable and a removable buff is blocking your team's pressure. Avoid turning every spare global into a mana drain on yourself.
Review
- Review one interrupted heal: could Grounding, line of sight or a partner peel have created a safer cast?
Key Matchups
Look for these opportunities
- Purge a relevant defensive buff when your teammate is ready to pressure.
- Deny a key cast with Grounding or Earth Shock, while preserving the mana and time needed to heal.
Struggles Against
- Cast dependence makes interrupts especially dangerous.
- Totems can be destroyed and shields can be dispelled.
