Discipline — prevention and offensive support
Arena optionArena starting point
Discipline balances healing with dispels and offensive pressure. Pain Suppression reduces damage taken by 40% for 8 seconds; the 65% figure is dispel resistance. Mana Burn is an opportunity when your team is stable, not a reason to stop healing under pressure.

Discipline
A deep-Discipline talent: it cannot be included in a 33-point Discipline tree.
Grants spell haste and reduced mana costs, not a flat 20% damage/healing increase.
Increases the amount absorbed; it does not reduce the shield mana cost.
Retains part of Spirit-based mana regeneration while casting.

Stat Priority
Primary Stats
- Resilience and stamina: survive the enemy setup before optimizing throughput.
- Healing power and mana resources: judge upgrades against your match length and healing needs.
Secondary Stats
- Spirit, MP5 and intellect have different value by class, talents and available drinking windows.
- Haste is useful only if the resulting gear still lets you survive and sustain.
Gear Priority
Weapons
- Compare weapons for your active role and the season available on your realm.
Armor
- Build a coherent PvP set before trading away survival for a single PvE upgrade.
- Honor and arena purchases should solve your largest weakness: survival, reliable control or pressure.
Accessories
- Keep the appropriate PvP crowd-control trinket available.
- Choose the second trinket for your matchup and set; no universal resilience threshold makes every PvE item safe.
Consumables
Arena
- Prepare permitted class-created resources, reagents and bandages before queueing.
- Use arena-eligible water for drinking; create a safe out-of-combat window.
- Normal potions and flasks are not part of a rated arena loadout. Keep battleground consumable plans separate.
Playstyle Guide
Decisions
- Keep your partner in healing range and anticipate incoming control before moving out for a burn or dispel.
- Use Pain Suppression before a dangerous damage window becomes lethal, while you can still act.
- Use Power Infusion for useful casting time: it gives 20% spell haste and 20% lower spell mana costs for 15 seconds.
Review
- Review each Mana Burn attempt: was your teammate safe, and could the target actually be reached?
Key Matchups
Look for these opportunities
- Dispel a useful enemy Magic buff when your partner can capitalize without needing immediate healing.
- Attempt Mana Burn when the target is reachable and your teammate can safely cover the cast.
Struggles Against
- Silences, interrupts and pressure can prevent stabilizing casts.
- Repeated offensive globals can leave your partner without enough healing.
